We start design with understanding of the brief from the school specialists and intense interactions at the planning stage, in the form of meetings, workshops, brainstorming with the school team. Typically the interiors scope will include flooring, doors and windows, plaster and paint, tiling, false ceiling, panelling, blinds, black and white boards, pin boards, in built and loose furniture etc. The brief will have different type of spaces like classrooms, reception and administration, laboratories and activity rooms, sport, pool, MPH and large gathering spaces, and then parking and services area. All these typologies of rooms are addressed specifically with set of detailed drawings.
Once the brief is detailed enough, we have presentation meetings with layouts approvals, interiors views, mood boards, sometime large scale 3D models with miniature furniture to help the client visualize the spaces. This happen usually at preliminary design stage and detailed design stage. From the detailed stage onward the coordination between interiors/ furniture placement and MEP services becomes crucial to move forward.
Once these early design stages are approved we move on to tender stage with detailed coordinated interior design and MEP services, that includes Electrical, data, PHE, fire detection, fire fighting,CCTV, access control, etc. These drawings take into account the future layout of furniture with their dimension, since tender for furniture may happen separately much later in the process.
Once the building is well under construction we have a separate tender for furniture, assuming that flooring, false ceiling and finishing are all part of the civil contract. We get the contractor to prepare scale one mock up rooms for typical classrooms, offices, laboratories and activity rooms. We go into detailed drawing for furniture placement, details, BOQ, schedule of finishes and hardware etc.

We help the client approve of the samples and mock ups for rooms and furniture. It may require, if needed, inspection in workshops/ factories for approval before delivery.
We then help in coordinating all the different packages at site during installation as part of our regular site visits. We prepare regular site observations and snag lists to tackle quality issues of interiors as well as the entire project.
